আসুন বঙ্গবাজার অগ্নিকাণ্ডে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত ব্যবসায়ীদের পাশে দাঁড়াই
গত ৪ ঠা এপ্রিল, ২০২৩ ইং তারিখে ভয়ঙ্কর অগ্নিকান্ডে বঙ্গবাজার কমপ্লেক্সের সমস্ত দোকান পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে যায়। হিসাব অনুযায়ী বঙ্গবাজার কমপ্লেক্সের দোকানের সংখ্যা ছিল প্রায় ৫০০০। সাধারণ ব্যবসায়ী ও মানুষের কান্নাজড়িত কন্ঠ ও আর্তনাদ আমাদের সকলের মনে গভীরভাবে দাগ কেটেছে।
এই অগ্নিকান্ডে জীবন ও সম্পদের ব্যাপকভাবে ক্ষতি হয়েছে। আকস্মিক দূর্ঘটনায় সব হারিয়ে আজ ব্যবসায়ীরা নিঃস্ব। প্রথম আলোর এক প্রতিবেদন থেকে জানা যায় যে শুধু দোকানের মালামালই নয়, ক্যাশ বাক্সে থাকা লক্ষ লক্ষ টাকা, ব্যাংক হিসাব, প্রয়োজনীয় কাগজপত্র সব পুড়ে ছাই হয়েছে। সামান্য ৫০ হাজার টাকা মূলধন নিয়ে যারা ব্যবসায় শুরু করেছিলেন, দশ বছরের মাথায় ফুলে ফেঁপে সেই মূলধন সহ লাভের পরিমাণ দাড়িয়েছিল প্রায় ১৫ লক্ষ টাকা, সেই সবকিছুই এখন শুধুই দুঃস্বপ্ন। The Daily Star বাংলা থেকে আরও জানা যায় যে, ভোর ৬ টা দশ মিনিটে আগুন লাগার পর ৪৮ টি ফায়ার সার্ভিস ইউনিট দুপুর ১২ টা ৩৬ মিনিটের দিকে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে।
করোনাকালীন ধাক্কা কাটিয়ে সবেই ব্যবসায়ীরা একটু সোজা হয়ে দাঁড়ানোর চেষ্টা করছিল আর ঈদকে সামনে রেখে নতুন মালামালের পসরা সব দোকানেই সাজানো হয়েছিল। ঈদ উপলক্ষে হওয়া মুনাফার আশা করেছিলেন ব্যবসায়ীরা কিন্তু সেসব আর কিছুই হয়ে উঠল না। এই ভয়াবহ অগ্নিকান্ডে হওয়া ক্ষতির প্রতিকার হয়তো কখনই আমরা সম্পূর্ণভাবে করতে পারব না কিন্তু নিজেদের সাধ্যমত আমরা অবশ্যই ক্ষতিগ্রস্থদের পাশে দাঁড়াতে পারি।
লাইফস্প্রিং পরিবা্রের পক্ষ থেকে এই সম্পূর্ণ দূর্ঘটনায় আমরা গভীরভাবে শোক প্রকাশ করছি এবং অঙ্গীকার করছি যে আমরা অসহায় ও ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ ব্যবসায়ীদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর পূর্ণ চেষ্টা করব। ইতোমধ্যে লাইফস্প্রিং ফাউন্ডেশন থেকে ২৫০০০ টাকা করে ৪০০ জন ব্যবসায়িকে অনুদান দেওয়ার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে এবং প্রাথমিকভাবে প্রায় আড়াই লক্ষ টাকা (২৫০,০০০) অনুদান হিসেবে দেওয়া হবে। আপনিও এই দুর্দিনে সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে এগিয়ে আসতে পারেন আর্তমানবতার সেবায়। আপনার ক্ষুদ্র একটি অনুদান হতে পারে অনেক ব্যবসায়ীর দুঃসময়ের পরম সঙ্গী। আশা করছি এই কঠিন সময় কাটিয়ে উঠতে আপনারা সবাই লাইফস্প্রিং ফাউন্ডেশনের সাথে থেকে বঙ্গবাজারের ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ ব্যবসায়ীদের পাশে দাঁড়াবেন।
Zakat, or almsgiving to the poor and needy, is an integral part of and one of the five pillars of Islam. Zakat is derived from the root word “zaka“, which means “increase and purification”, signifying that the giving of zakat “purifies” and also “increases” existing wealth
Zakat is mentioned several times in the Quran, including:
“We ˹also˺ made them leaders, guiding by Our command, and inspired them to do good deeds, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax. And they were devoted to Our worship.” Quran 21:73 (Surah Al-Anbya)
“They are those who, if established in the land by Us, would perform prayer, pay alms-tax, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil. And with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs.” Quran 22:41 (Surah Al-Hajj)
“Alms-tax is only for the poor and the needy, for those employed to administer it, for those whose hearts are attracted ˹to the faith˺, for ˹freeing˺ slaves, for those in debt, for Allah’s cause, and for ˹needy˺ travellers. ˹This is˺ an obligation from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.” Quran 9:60 (Surah At-Tawbah)
The calculation of zakat is based on a percentage of a person’s total wealth, and it is obligatory for everyone who meets the given criteria. Muslims must pay 2.5% of their total wealth as zakat if their total wealth exceeds nisab, which is equivalent to 87.48 grams or 3 ounces of gold or 612.36 grams or 21 ounces of silver. Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a person must possess before they are obligated to pay zakat.

While zakat collectors are entitled to a certain portion of the collected funds for their efforts, we at the LifeSpring Well-being Foundation do not keep any part of the zakat donation to support our logistical costs – the entirety of your zakat donation is given to a charitable cause.

Self-reliant/Shabolombi Project: This Self-reliant project is dedicated to those who want to be self-reliant but cannot because of financial trouble and poverty and who cannot improve their condition due to a lack of opportunities. Therefore, we will provide financial help with the collected money from the Zakat fund and help the underprivileged in small businesses, such as building a tea stall or providing goods for the hawking business trade. We can provide sewing machines for women and low-income families.
Livestock Distribution Project: Many poor people who need help to afford the additional cost of buying and rearing livestock daily. With the money you send, we can provide livestock for poor people who can provide them with food and nutrients needed for more animals.
Iftaar Project: One of the many projects will be the Iftar Project program, where we will organize Iftar and every upcoming Ramadan for street children, day laborers, and rickshaw pullers with Zakat money. There will be sufficient food and clean water for the Iftar Program. Food contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Also, if the food tastes good, everyone will feel motivated to eat the food.
Grocery Project: Eid does not bring joy to everyone, and there are many families where no exceptional food is prepared, even on Eid day. So to change this situation, we will spend some money from the total amount of Zakat to do the Eid grocery shopping for low-income families so that people can enjoy delicious food with a smile on Eid day.
Zakat-Ul-Fitra Project: Before Eid-ul-Fitr, we will distribute the Zakat amount to the helpless, poor, and underprivileged.
